How old do you get in Italy?

A little bragging knowledge never hurts: here are a few interesting details about the Bel Paese - bet you'll surprise a few people with them!

  • People in Umbria live to be the oldest in Italy. On average, women live to be 85.6 years old and men 81.1 years old.

  • Men in Valle d'Aosta live the shortest of all in Italy. They live to be 78.2 years old on average.
  • Italy is one of the countries with the oldest average population in the world. Life expectancy in Italy is 82.2 years.

  • Italy is youngest in the south. The average age in Campania is 43.3 years. The oldest in Italy is in Liguria, with an average of 49.2 years.

  • Almost 10 million people live in Lombardy alone. This means that every sixth Italian comes from Lombardy.
