Who we are - and why we love Italy

Italy is not a country. Italy is a state. One in which it smells of espresso, someone is talking loudly on the phone (to their mum) and somewhere there is guaranteed to be an argument about which pasta is the best, Nonna Carolina's or Aunt Philomena's.

With "la bella vita club", we try to capture this attitude to life - without casting it in concrete. We talk about the small Italian towns with a big soul, about markets where the tomatoes taste of the sun and about people who put more passion into their work. Lunch than others put into a doctoral thesis.

Who are we?

Behind this magazine are real people with a great love of Italy. We are journalistically independent of the small media production kayserin.io (Stephanie Kayser). She is based in Cologne (in the city that was founded by the Romans 2000 years ago), but research is of course best done on site in Bella Italia:

As we all know, the best stories are on the street. We want to tell them as they are - without clichés, but with a wink.

Wine in a plastic cup

We travel, we ask, we listen. And sometimes we just sit on a wall with a plastic cup full of house wine in Bari - and watch life go by. That's how our reports are created: honestclose up, with attention to detail and respect for the Peculiaritiesthat make Italy so special.

What we do - and what we don't do

  • We don't make top 10 lists of Instagram spots (although we know them).
  • We don't do press releases on pasta trends (although we eat them).
  • And we don't write anything that doesn't feel at least a little bit like Italy.
The trulli in Alberobello in Apulia - a street scene in front of a souvenir shop
The village of the Trullis: Alberobello in Apulia

Instead:

  • an encounter with the old gentleman in Apulia who harvests his figs according to the lunar calendar.
  • a story about "Gigi's bar": the place-to-be where everyone is a regular, even the postman.
  • a text about Italian family dinners, where the dessert is already being discussed during the antipasto.

Sounds like everyday life? Exactly. And therein lies the magic.

The attitude to life the world is envious of
