der Provinz Genua \u2013 ein Dorf im w\u00f6rtlichen Sinn. Und trotzdem spielte es \u00fcber Jahrhunderte eine Rolle im Machtgef\u00fcge der Region. Im Jahr 986 schenkte Adelheid von Burgund das Dorf der 5 Kilometer entfernten Abtei San Fruttuoso. Die Abtei selbst ist bis heute nur zu Fu\u00df oder per Boot erreichbar, eingebettet in eine Bucht. Sie war im Laufe ihrer Geschichte Benediktinerkloster, Piratenversteck und Adelsresidenz. Kein Zufall: Die halbkreisf\u00f6rmige Bucht bietet nicht nur eine traumhafte Kulisse, sondern auch einen der sichersten Ankerpl\u00e4tze an der Riviera. Portofino wechselte im Laufe der Jahrhunderte oft den Besitzer: von Genua zu Florenz, dann wieder zur\u00fcck.
